The Practice of the Wild - Gary Snyder
Our bodies are wild. The involuntary quick turn of the head at a
shout, the vertigo at looking off a precipice, the heart-in-the-throat
in a moment of danger, the catch of the breath, the quiet moments
relaxing, staring, reflecting—all universal responses of this mammal body. They can be seen throughout the class. The body does
not require the intercession of some conscious intellect to make
it breathe, to keep the heart beating. It is to a great extent selfregulating, it is a life of its own. Sensation and perception do not exactly come from outside, and the unremitting thought and imageflow are not exactly outside. The world is our consciousness, and it
surrounds us. There are more things in mind, in the imagination,
than "you" can keep track of—thoughts, memories, images, angers, delights, rise unbidden. The depths of mind, the unconscious,
are our inner wilderness areas, and that is where a bobcat is right now.
I do not mean personal bobcats in personal psyches, but the bobcat
that roams from dream to dream. The conscious agenda-planning
ego occupies a very tiny territory, a little cubicle somewhere near the
gate, keeping track of some of what goes in and out (and sometimes
making expansionistic plots), and the rest takes care of itself. The
body is, so to speak, in the mind. They are both wild.
Some will say, so far so good. "We are mammal primates. But we
have language, and the animals don't." By some definitions perhaps
they don't. But they do communicate extensively, and by call systems we are just beginning to grasp.
It would be a mistake to think that human beings got "smarter"
at some point and invented first language and then society. Language and culture emerge from our biological-social natural existence, animals that we were/are. Language is a mind-body system
that coevolved with our needs and nerves.

Tornar Visível o Invisível do Visível
Tampouco
gosto de ter que avisá-lo de antemão.
A exposição
sonhos, realidades, passados e passados ao contrário (me) produziram a partir do
O corpo.
Músculos, ossos, vísceras, órgãos.
O corpo sem
órgãos. O limite dentro-fora.
Sangue. O
sangue circulando por dentro do corpo, as linhas de força atravessando tudo.
Identidade.
Artaud.
Bauman.
O Invisível
do visível.
me parece conveniente a mim mesmo,
as coisas
As linhas
aqui agora.
A
artista. Recomendo o trabalho de Nick Rands: Did I see Another Angel? .

Simples assim.
The beginnings and the endings of movement are the fixed poles of what we might call choreography. Generally we’re concerned with what goes on in between these, in the musicality and dynamics of the body in time and the shapes and positions of the body in space. Beginnings and endings imply a caesura, a place for movement grammar to occur.
In general the beginning and ending of any gesture in dance or movement theater is easily identifiable. Most classical dance training emphasizes clarity in initiating or resolving movement, and this clarity or punctuality is also common in the choreographies of many modern, postmodern and contemporary dance artists. Here it begins, there it ends; everyone can see the decision-making. This clarity is often the result of musical timing, dance’s traditional role accompanying music in ‘getting down on the one.’ Not to begin or end clearly is usually considered muddy, unfocussed or untrained.
However beginnings and endings also reveal a underlying intention – to make or choreograph something. Seeing the beginning or ending of a movement means primarily seeing a plan at work; starting or stopping itself indicates a demonstration or display of what is essentially determination. The viewer detects intention and attempts to evaluate or interpret what is being intended. Do I like it? Do I get it?
If this plan is somehow hidden or expressly un-indicated in the beginning or ending of a gesture, the viewer is only aware of a movement after it has begun, only aware of its ending after it has stopped. The performance takes on the character of a magic show, where perception itself is foregrounded; something happening “before your very eyes.” Often this conflicts with preconceptions about reality. A gesture too can come from nowhere and vanish without a trace.
This could be more important than the choreography.

To live a creative life,
we must lose our fear of being wrong.Take your work seriously but not yourself.
Never acknowledge ‘mistakes’ because they do not exist in art.
Learn to communicate with people and your art will improve dramatically.
